Great Island Cabin Camp is located on South Core Banks within beautiful Cape Lookout National Seashore just off the mainland of North Carolina. The camp has been a favorite of fisherman and beach goers for many years. The camp can only be reached by boat, adding an element of adventure. Visitors can travel by personal boats or reserve a spot on ferry, which cruises across scenic Core Sound to the Great Island Cabin Camp on South Core Banks. Great Island Cabin Camp offers 25 rustic, beachfront cabins for individuals and families or small groups of up to 12 people and are rented on a per-night basis. Cabin 2 is handicapped accessible. Reservations for the cabins can be made online 24 hours a day or by telephone at (877) 444-6777 from 10:00 AM to midnight EST.
Each cabin includes bunk beds and mattresses, a private bath with sink and shower stall, a hot water heater, a table, and chairs. Small kitchens are equipped with cabinets and a propane oven/stove. A grill is just outside each cabin. Bathroom facilities are also centrally located within the camp. There are generator hookups at each cabin. Campers must provide their own linens, bedding, cookware, food and food storage, coolers, first-aid supplies and anything else needed for their stay. Most campers also bring flashlights or gas lanterns. Ice and gas are available at the camp office. The National Park Service currently operates these cabins. Transportation to and from the island is available from two independent ferry services authorized by the National Park Service. Davis Ferry Service can be reached at (252)729-3474 or (252) 729-8411 (fax), and Cape Lookout Cabins and Camps Ferry Service can be reached at (252) 729-9751.
