Local Yokel Ferry and Tours is operated by the Yeomans family and is the only ferry service that offers passengers a full view of Shackleford on the way to the Cape — complete with the horses, dolphin and waterfowl. The ferry begins operating at 9 AM and runs every hour in the summer, weather permitting. Early trips, trips during the winter months, and other special needs can be arranged. After a 15-minute ride, travelers find themselves on Cape Lookout National Seashore; five minutes and they're at Shackleford Banks. Passenger only round trip rates are $14 for ages 11 and older, $7 for children 5 to 11, and under age 5 is free, with a minimum of five passengers. Other fees apply for round trip vehicles, ATVs, Mules, Gators, Kabutos.  Group rates are available and there is free parking on Harkers Island. Stay an hour, a day or bring a tent and stay the night.
