Discovery Diving Company, Inc. is a 5-star PADI Instructor Development Center for SCUBA divers. Started in 2011, the Discovery Diving Instructor College (DDIC) is the teaching branch of DDC. DDIC is now a nationally accredited vocational school through ACCET (the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training; www.accet.org). Since the beginning Discovery Diving has been running 5 month SCUBA Divemaster programs and 9 month SCUBA Instructor programs.The Master SCUBA Diver Trainer program, which varies in length between 4-9 months, began in 2013. The Divemaster and Instructor programs begin with Open Water and advance through a majority of the PADI specialties, like Search and Recovery and Wreck diver. A primary goal of the training programs is to create a well-versed and knowledgeable professional with superior diving skills. Discovery Diving students learn how to interact with the public in a professional manner, to teach a basic Open Water course, and appropriate diving skills for the surrounding environment. Since 2012, Discovery Diving Company, Inc. has had over 20 students enrolled in the program and have successfully complete it. Some of the graduates have moved on to SCUBA dive shops in Florida, Atlanta, and even Costa Rica. Discovery Diving Company is in the process of developing a Public Safety Diver Program and a Scientific Diver Program. These programs will vary in length, but will be between 4-8 months. Most of the courses are PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors; www.padi.com) and the courses themselves are ACE accredited. Many colleges and universities accept these credits as recreation, recreation development, recreation leadership, and leadership credits.
