The Junior Sailing Program is a basic and intermediate summer sailing program open to children ages 8 to 14. The program uses the fun of sailing and the competition of racing to teach rigging, sailing, seamanship, navigational skills and maritime traditions and history to young sailors. Instructors are certified by the U.S. Sailing Association as Small Boat Sailing Instructors and are certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid and CPR. These programs fill very quickly, and students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Call the North Carolina Maritime Museum for class schedules and fee information. The class takes place at the museum's Gallant's Channel location.
