Blue Moon Bistro offers upscale casual dining in a relaxed, historic setting in Beaufort. It's not considered fine dining because there are no coats and ties needed here, but the food, service, and experience would make you think otherwise. Offering a laid-back atmosphere, the Blue Moon concentrates on quality food, drinks, and service. Dinners are prepared from scratch daily and vary depending on the season and the chef's preparation for the day. You'll always find the best fish, shellfish, poultry and steaks around town as this restaurant is a member of Carteret Catch and always serves only fresh, local seafood. They are a farm and ocean to fork restaurant. To start your meal, enjoy Blue Moon's mixed green salad with seasonal garnish. Appetizers might include lamb chops, pork pot stickers with tamari-ginger dipping sauce, or seared sea scallops. Ask for their comprehensive wine list. They carry all ABC permits and have a full-service bar, as well. Entrees change often and could feature Angus rib eye, veal tenderloin with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, or locally caught seafood. Guests can also enjoy outstanding soups and a variety of salads. Room for dessert? While the Blue Moon dessert list changes, past favorites have included cheesecake, crème brûlée trio, chocolate torte and fluffy pound cake with fruit. Blue Moon is open at 5:00 PM for dinner only, Monday through Saturday in season and occasionally on Sunday night on Holiday weekends. Reservations are recommended. The chef/owner was born and reared in Carteret County and has turned to the area after training throughout North Carolina.
